Assessment, Reporting, & Results

Assessment is an integral part of teaching and learning at our school. It enables us to understand each pupil’s strengths, identify next steps, and ensure that every child is supported and challenged appropriately. We use a combination of day-to-day classroom assessment and nationally standardised tests to build a clear, well-rounded picture of progress and attainment over time.

Reporting to Parents

We believe that strong communication between school and home is essential. Throughout the academic year, parents receive clear and meaningful information about their child’s development:

  • Termly Parent–Teacher Consultations provide an opportunity to discuss progress, effort, attitudes to learning, and next steps in detail.
  • Written Reports in Term 1 and Term 3 offer a comprehensive overview of attainment, progress, and personal development across subjects.
  • Grade Sheets for Secondary Pupils in Term 2 give an interim snapshot of academic performance and effort to ensure families are well informed mid-year.

This structured approach ensures that parents receive regular updates and have multiple opportunities to engage in discussions about their child’s learning journey.

Results

In addition to classroom assessment, we use internationally recognised GL Assessment, a leading provider of educational benchmarking tools used in around 8,000–10,000 schools around the world and completed by over a million pupils each year. These assessments are standardised against UK and international datasets (with an average score of 100), allowing us to benchmark attainment.

Progress Test in English and Progress Tests in Mathematics (End-of-year)
PTE (English) and PTM (Mathematics) measure attainment in core subjects. These tests allow us to track academic progress over time and ensure pupils are developing strong literacy and numeracy foundations.
