You could argue that every day is International Day here at IPS with our community of over 40 nationalities spread across the school; but our Secondary pupils dived deeper in order to develop their understanding of the values of internationalism, cultural awareness, and acceptance.
Throughout the past few weeks, pupils in Years 7 to 10 have engaged in a wide range of activities from museum visits, to guest speaker sessions that encouraged them to reflect on identity and inclusion.

Madam Elise provided an insight into the world of international diplomacy and Canadian culture, sharing her life experience and the journey that led her to a career in international service.
Dutch Culture and Innovation
Guest: Ms. Karin, Embassy of the Netherlands
Ms. Karin discussed beloved Dutch traditions, expertise in coastal engineering, and the national obsession with cycling - all accompanied by delicious Dutch stroopwafels.
The Lisbon Project
Guests: Eva & Mo
Eva shared incredibly thought-provoking insights into the struggles faced by refugees. We learned Mo's moving story, a refugee from Iraq who overcame immense hardship to escape war. He passionately emphasised the vital support he received from The Lisbon Project, helping him establish the life he now leads as an established chef.
Armenian Community - Gulbenkian
Guest: Vera & Annie, Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian
The pupils learned about Armenian history and displacement, and how Calouste Gulbenkian eventually moved his impressive art collection to Portugal.
An Insight into Japanese Culture
Guest: Akiko & Traditional Presenters
Pupils experienced a traditional tea ceremony and learned about the historic Portuguese influences on Japanese culture that remain today.
