Visit to Cozinha com Alma
Visit to Cozinha com Alma
A meaningful and transformative experience for our Year 9 Portuguese classes
(Groups 1 and 3)
On June 17th and 24th, the Year 9 Portuguese pupils took part in a very special visit to Cozinha com Alma, a social support project with a noble mission: to combat food insecurity and promote social inclusion through the power of gastronomy.
Accompanied by their teachers and guided by staff members Patrícia and Andreia, the pupils had the opportunity to learn firsthand how this organisation operates by actively participating in a variety of tasks.
During the visit, our pupils:
- Helped organise the storage area;
- Cooked side by side with Chef Nuno and his team;
- Packed meals, trays, and delicious brownies;
- Carefully deboned chickens;
- Assisted customers in the ‘solidarity store’;
- They even set up the outdoor seating area, contributing to the welcoming atmosphere of the space.
This experience proved to be extremely powerful, allowing pupils to practise the Portuguese language as well as developing their teamwork and empathy for others. Essential values for our future generations.
We are deeply grateful to the Cozinha com Alma team for the warm welcome and for giving us the opportunity to be part of such an inspiring project.
Please feel free to visit the store that is located so close to the school.
“We continue to grow both inside and outside the classroom.”
