During STEAM Day, pupils collaborated in mixed year groups according to their Houses, to develop their skills through Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics. Throughout the day, pupils were encouraged to draw on their intellectual curiosity, with each activity focused on promoting the 5 C' s of STEAM - communication, collaboration, character, critical thinking, and creativity.
In Key Stage 3 pupils took on an exciting hands-on challenge: designing and constructing water towers using everyday materials. Each group presented their designs and innovative approaches to a panel of judges, earning points for the House.
In Key Stage 2 pupils put their critical thinking skills to the test with questions such as - How do you blow up a balloon without adding air? and How can you design and make a way of protecting an egg so, when it is dropped in the atrium, it survives?
In Key Stage 1 pupils took part in a carousel of hands-on activities where they combined STEAM ideas to create, build and perform experiments. They were encouraged to think of different materials to create a lava lamp, to think about designing and creating a marble maze as a team, and create a 3D shape using innovative materials.
