Importance of Tapestry in Early Years

Importance of Tapestry in Early Years

This year at IPS we are excited to continue using Tapestry, an online digital platform, to document the milestones and progress of our youngest learners in the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS). Tapestry offers a unique and engaging way to track each child's development throughout their nursery and reception years. By the end of the year, every child will have an individual learning journal that highlights the exciting journey they've had, showcasing their achievements, experiences, and the progress they’ve made.

Tapestry is not only a valuable tool for teachers but also a wonderful opportunity for parents to actively participate in their child's learning. Parents can share observations and reflections from home, which allows for a more holistic view of each child's development. For teachers, the platform is instrumental in informing our planning, as it provides detailed insights into children's interests and learning styles. This helps us to tailor learning experiences, ensuring that we can provide individualized support that nurtures each child's unique path of growth and discovery.

Parents can further support their child's learning by regularly reviewing the observations and next steps shared on Tapestry. Each observation is linked to specific Early Learning Goals (ELGs), providing insight into the skills and knowledge your child is developing. By exploring these notes, parents can gain a deeper understanding of the British Early Years curriculum and see firsthand how their child is progressing in key areas such as communication, physical development, and personal, social, and emotional growth. This ongoing connection between home and school allows parents to actively engage with their child's learning journey, reinforcing what they’re working on in school and providing opportunities to extend learning at home in meaningful ways.
