Secondary School at IPS Cascais

Together we are building not just a Secondary School, but a community that values confidence, resilience, and humility

CHRIS STARLING, Executive Director

New Secondary School Underway

After over 40 years of excellence in Primary education, IPS Cascais is proud to announce the development of our Secondary School.

Our Secondary School will soon move to a beautiful new campus with excellent, specialist facilities close to the current site. Our Secondary School will deliver an educational programme from Years 7 up to Year 13, ensuring pupils get the qualifications and experiences for them to take to universities across the world.

The Secondary School is being designed with our pupils learning at heart. The school will consist of versatile teaching spaces that will help to deliver engaging and effective teaching and learning here at IPS Cascais.

  • Secondary pupils require state-of-the-art facilities such as science labs, fully stocked libraries, and IT suites that will provide them with the tools they need to engage in hands-on and interactive learning.
  • The sports facilities will be designed for our pupils to engage in a variety of sports including football, basketball, tennis, and hockey. These spaces are vital for us to promote physical wellbeing, and to provide after-school activities.
  • Green spaces and areas for mental wellbeing will be developed for our pupils, providing areas for quiet study or outdoor learning experiences.

The capacity of the Secondary School will allow IPS Cascais to remain as one of the smaller international schools, allowing us to support your child academically, socially, and emotionally.

Curriculum

The Secondary years of education should be exciting for pupils. As they gain more independence in their learning, we develop pupils' personal strengths and interests with a broad and stimulating curriculum.

IPS Cascais ensures a smooth transition between Primary and Secondary using consistent assessment and reporting procedures. In a small school environment, we can closely support children with their academics, as well as the social aspects of entering this stage of life.

As pupils move into Key Stages 3, 4 and 5 they will be working towards achieving their IGCSEs, which they will undertake in Year 11, and A levels in Year 13.

iGCSEs

Choosing iGCSEs provides pupils with a globally recognised qualification, and a flexible curriculum tailored to their interests. With rigorous assessments and emphasis on essential skills, iGCSEs prepare pupils for the next stage in their lives. This pathway fosters personal growth and confidence, ensuring they are equipped for a rapidly changing world.
