Secondary School

Secondary teaching at Globeducate British International Schools

Secondary school covers Key Stages 3 and 4. During secondary school our objective is to equip our students to tackle the next stages of more rigorous academic study with confidence and success.

Encouraging critical thinkers

We do this by encouraging students to refine their critical, analytical and rational thinking skills. Oral and written communication skills in English and other modern languages are developed throughout the secondary stage and creativity and cooperation continue to play an important role. We believe that responsibility and self-discipline are essential tools for the personal and academic development of every student.

The key elements of the secondary curriculum are as follows:

Key Stage 3

In Key Stage 3, Years 7 to 9, students follow the core subjects as outlined in the National Curriculum. These are:

  • English
  • Maths
  • Science
  • History
  • Geography
  • Languages
  • Design and technology
  • Art and design
  • Music
  • Physical education
  • Citizenship
  • Computing

Key Stage 4

During Key Stage 4, Years 10 and 11, classes begin to prepare students for the IGCSE exams which are held at the end of Year 11. These are accredited by the University of Cambridge. Students continue to follow core classes in English, maths and science, while choosing from a wide range of other subjects available, including modern foreign languages, computing, design and technology, and many more.

Dedicated support so everyone can succeed

Our students receive support and guidance from specialised staff throughout their secondary education, and begin to think about the subjects they would like to take for A-Level, with a view to planning their further academic study and future professional careers. In some of our schools, students follow the International Baccalaureate Diploma after completing IGCSEs. Our study programmes are designed to ensure excellent academic progress and promote self-motivation, hard work and perseverance. Throughout our classes we continue to prioritise the development of personal values, and our students start to mature into confident, competent and ethical members of society.

We believe that responsibility and self-discipline are essential tools.
